the job will prevail

Sorry Jake, a smart girl will never choose a guy over a career. Especially if that guy has three other girlfriends. Jake, you just let the best girl go, you should have ended the show and proposed to keep her! All you've got left: Tenley: Emotional, wounded puppy, on the verge of a mental breakdown. Gia: another emotionally abused puppy, insecure, wacked out family. Vienna: gold digging, party girl, her nude photos will surface on the Internet within the month, just wait! Jake your choice in women next to your bland personality have officially demoted you off my pretend TV boyfriend list, sorry, I know you really wanted to be there, but tough.

***spoiler alert*** good luck with V!!!

just for carly katherine

It's been too long.  We stilllll don't have internet service at our house and no one to steal it from in the neighborhood.  These pics are for cuzin Katie!  Since she's the only one who cares:).  We moved out of good ol' Sanger in the middle of January and into Clovis, Old Town Clovis to be specific.  It's an area that's pretty self explanatory, old town:  old houses, cute houses.  Our house was built in 1954, it's been updated a few times, but still has some vintage flair!  Old Town is also where Farmer's Market, the rodeo and Big Hat Days events occur and we are within walking distance.  Doesn't get much better than that, along with an 11 mile running trail!  We are in the process of thinking about purchasing and will make the decision this week as we can't let the tax credit pass us by...now for the tour de carly:  above pic is the entertainment room.
Drewsk's favorite section of the entertainment room along with all the little nieces.
Attached to that room is the laundry room/storage room.  Look at the fresh pile of laundry ready to be folded...slacker...but yet I wanted you to see that I actually do some stuff during the day besides cook, well that and my other part time gig as babysitter to 6 nieces and baby Jage! Not to mention the other part time job of running errands with my sisaroni:)!
Mini kitchen:(.  Not my favorite to cook in, but it will do.  New fridge and dishwasher though:).  Cabinets & hardware to be updated.
Dining room....now the pine wood paneling is my FAVORITE part of the house;).  Riiiiiight.  FIRST thing to go...it's throughout every room except my dressing room.
Where all the magic happens.
Living Room.  My favorite room.  Love my little green couch.  Home Goods clearance baby!

There are two more bedrooms, one is my dressing room and the other is Andrew's, hope to be filled by at least one baby in the next 2 years:).  We LOOOOOOVE our new ward.  It is THE best I've ever been to.  We fit right in and are excited to make friends there.

I had a job for a day, well two and decided it wasn't for me.  So back to early retirement and Bask.  New marketing strategy to unfold within the next month to increase business, now that we don't live in the sticks.  We are exactly one mile from Andrew's work, he obviously enjoys that much more than his 23 mile commute.  We have discovered the greatness of Winco and JuJu hearts and are exactly 3/4 of a mile from MARSHALLS!  YAYYYYY!

Andrew plays basketball every week in my parent's ward and is apparently the MVP.  I guess too many hoodlems come to play off the street so they asked that only ward members be allowed....the guys in their ward made a point to tell my dad to make sure to tell Drewsk that he needed to come.  (insert warm fuzzy here).

Grad school is not out of the picture, don't you worry your little hearts.  We will update you of course when that all unfolds.  Winter is the bomb.  Have YET to wear a coat!  Fabulousity!!!!  I've also dropped an embarrassing 16.5 pounds.  Crazy that I could afford to lose that much, but hooray that it's GONE and NEVER coming back.  We are hoping to make it to Utah sometimes this year...my hair is in DESPERATE need of being done, I'm too chicken to go to anyone but my beloved Kaleb.  But for more important reasons like seeing the Field side of the fam.  Andrew's sis Jennifer has just been called on a mission and we are super stoked for her and jealous that she will get to eat lots of yummy mexican food in New Mexico.

Other good news...we are expecting a baby sometime in April.  A baby Boxer!  We are on a waiting list for a puppy!!!  So excited for her to come, little Lola!!!

We keep making life happen for us and it's working out wonderfully.  Sometimes we just have to weather a little storm to be able to enjoy a little sunshine.  I think that's all the news on the Clovis front...catch you all on the flipside.

Year in Review

Yesterday evening I came home to a delightful dinner secretly prepared by my little wife, Laura. She slaved all day to surprise me with delicious steak, mashed potatoes, rolls, salad, chocolate strawberries, and chocolate moose! It was all homemade from scratch! Hands down, the best meal I remember having, all under the romantic glow of candle light.

Under this delightful setting we began our discussion of 2009 and what we hoped for 2010. Life in 2009 seemed okay until we started discussing the highlights. Turns out, there weren't many. I lost my job toward the end of 2008 so I spent the first half of the year as only a full-time student, which doesn't sound so bad but considering what I was doing beforehand, I felt like a total loser. Meanwhile, Laura was suffering through her job with feelings of entrapment and no progress. We did, however, manage to build, what we feel as, our first couple-to-couple friendship with Peter and Amber Hinckley. Unfortunately, just as we were having a great time together, we decided to move to Fresno, CA. This was probably the highlight of the year as the day we arrived in Fresno I had an interview at Kaplan College, which I started at a week later.

The second half of the year I rose as a star among my peers at work while Laura took some time off from working and going to school for the first time in 10 years. That lead to some trying times for Laura, which she detailed in an earlier post. Among all these, coupled with feeling like nomads, we are ready for 2010 and hope it brings some fantastic things. I rate 2009 as okay - not bad, but not really good either - which is maybe all we can expect.

As for 2010: we'll be moving to our own little house in a few weeks, I'm expecting a promotion very soon, and Laura is feeling happy to be losing weight (I think she's lost 13 lbs now (applause)). Laura will likely find a job soon, one that she can play around in while cultivating other interests. I'll keep working toward graduate school. Together, we'll investigate our baby-making prowess and see what happens. We have every reason to believe 2010 will be the best year yet!

new digs

jan. 15th we will have a new home in old town clovis. yay for our own little space in the quiet older part of clovis. we will be renting a little house from my sister's friend's dad. It's quite quaint if I do say so myself, although I haven't seen the inside, just the nicely kept front and backyard that is plenty large to have some grilling parties. The neighborhood seems a little sketchy, as sketchy as you can get north of Shaw in Clovis;) But hey, we are still "students". We are preparing for the next phase of our life...stay tuned...no, i'm not pregnant, yet.

I am officially on the job hunt as of last Friday. I had an interview on Monday, let me just say I researched the establishment and owner who i was interviewing with (i won't post names, for the parties involved sake). Let's just say this person owns several establishments in the Fresno area and needed a Bookkeeper (me) to keep track of it. Google told me about the indictment brought on to this fellow 2 years ago for tax evasion, that should've been my first clue. I, however, am a VERY forgiving person and wanted to give the person the benefit of the doubt and maybe he'd say his accountant was crooked. Yeah, well, I'm gonna have to go with my gut on this one...don't want to clean up any financial messes created by a not so classy person. So, back to the drawing board.......any good job suggestions? keep in mind, i'm retired and am just looking for something to fill up my day....ideas?

and their stockings hung by the....bar?

We may not have our own fireplace this Christmas, but the back of Stan & Reshea's bar will do!
It's sad we don't have our own house to decorate, but the Greene's house is plenty festive. Reshea had to bribe me into helping her decorate her "sequoia" of a Christmas tree. I think we did pretty dang good! Reshea only killed 2 of her Christopher Radko ornaments, and she was nervous the lil munchkins were gonna break them. Oh well!

It sure is nice not having to wear a jacket except after dark:). I keep wondering if all my boots will come in handy at all for my winter wardrobe. I keep hoping the weather gets a little more chilly because Starbuck's Peppermint Hot Chocolate is just about the best thing to happen to Christmas, next to baby Jesus of course!

I failed to mention Thanksgiving, maybe because I have no pics of it. We had a huge feast. I was nominated by some committee (mom & sis) to "host" Thanksgiving. Kind of hard to do without a home. I quickly turned it into a pilgrim style potluck. We had a full house, every member of my immediate family was able to attend. Reshea's in laws all came and Hailey (niece) & Alex (niece's mom) came for dessert. EVERYBODY contributed part of the meal. It all turned out perfect without a hitch, we even snagged a fam pic with no tears. Never in Tobler history has that happened...we all HATE posed pics except for my mom. Though I didn't eat much, cooking takes the fun out of eating, it turned out to be a great Thanksgiving.

On another note, I've lost a few more pounds! Now negative 8.5 lbs., life is looking swell again and my "fat jeans" are making their debut into my wardrobe this week. Still have a little ways to go to reach my "high school weight". Speaking of high school, my 1o year reunion is next year...freak out! I've got to be looking BANANAS or maybe preggers for that event. At the rate I'm going it should be no problemo. Drewski has lost some poundage as well, even though he didn't need to lose anything, don't you just hate how easily men drop the lbs?!
